Book presentation of "Services Made in Germany - A Travel Guide" at the Technology Services Europe 2009

MBA Volker Stößel Marketing und Public Relations
Handelshochschule Leipzig

The Center for Leading Innovation & Cooperation (CLIC) presents the English edition of the publication "Services Made in Germany - A Travel Guide" at the TSE Conference. The Conference being held April 1-3 in Barcelona is co-presented by AFSMI, SSPA, and TPSA - the three leading professional associations of the services and support industry.

The Guide gives insights into the German service industry, showing remarkable examples of innovations. You can read about fascinating services offered by Flowline, a German company providing service engineering in Hollywood, what bookkeeping will look like in the future, or how a "carefree system" for machines works. The travel guide is a result of the project "Innovative services on the way to world class", which is supported by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.

Dr. Marcus Kölling, Executive Director of CLIC, explains: "Our assumption was that services in Germany are better than their reputation. Germany is a country characterized by services: 70 % of its working population is employed in the service sector. There are numerous examples of excellent research activities in this field. There are also many examples of this research being put into practice with great success. There have been investigations in service provision for twelve years and the results have been used to develop concepts and methods for this very important economic sector. In conclusion we can say that a sizeable number of companies specializing in developing service excellence, so called "service engineering", have come into existence in Germany. We want to present these surprising results to a broad international public. So we have published the travel guide."
