    - TUSIAD/TCCI Chair announced at the inauguration of the German-Turkish Year of Research, Education and Innovation

The Turkish Industry & Business Association (TUSIAD) /Turkey: Culture of Change Initiative (TCCI) and ESMT European School of Management and Technology in Berlin have established the TUSIAD/TCCI Chair in European Economic Integration. Stefan Wagner, ESMT associate professor, has been named holder of the ninth academic chair at the international business school.

The TUSIAD/TCCI Chair in European Economic Integration will focus on research and teaching in areas related to European economic integration and competitiveness, the German‐Turkish economic partnership, and the strategic role of entrepreneurship and managing technology, among others.

Associate Professor Stefan Wagner joined ESMT in February 2011 from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität LMU in Munich, Germany. His research covers the intersection of firm strategy, technological innovation, industrial organization, and law, and he is currently focusing on intellectual property rights, companies’ long-term strategy regarding innovation, and venture creation and growth strategies for young firms.

“For Europe and for Turkey to grow and thrive, initiatives such as the TUSIAD/TCCI Chair are very instrumental in terms of promoting research and flourishing partnerships on innovation, economic integration, and competitiveness,” commented Muharrem Yılmaz, President of TUSIAD. “By establishing this TUSIAD/TCCI program, we hope to offer young leaders a multidimensional approach on three key areas through research, executive education, and activities which draw upon ESMT’s competencies in thought leadership.”

“With his knowledge on the management of technology and European competitiveness, Stefan Wagner is the perfect choice to fill the TUSIAD/TCCI Chair in European Economic Integration,” said ESMT President Jörg Rocholl. “We look forward to furthering the debate surrounding European economic integration with our research and teaching in this area.”

The establishment of the TUSIAD/TCCI Chair coincides with the inauguration of the German Turkish Year of Research, Education, and Innovation in 2014 organized by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research in association with the Turkish Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology. The initiative aims at increasing the visibility of the diversity and excellence of German-Turkish activities in research, education and innovation, establishing new partnerships, and making better use of joint innovation potential.
