Trace organics in the water cycle
20 years of Research in the field of Endocrine Disruptors & Pharmaceutical Compounds in the water cycle - challenges and solutions for the water sector
Since the 90', Research had suggested that several chemical and natural compounds have the ability to disrupt the endocrine systems. Endocrine disruptor compounds encompass a variety of chemical, including anthropogenic substances such as detergent, pesticides, platicizers, natural and synthetic hormones, among many other substances.
Hinweise zur Teilnahme:The biological activity of pharmaceuticals compounds is high since they have been designed to act at low concentrations. Thus, found in the environment even at the low concentrations, they may produce deleterious effects to the aquatic organisms. Awareness of the potential hazards posed by endocrine disrupting and pharmaceuticals compounds has led to intensive research programs over the past 20 years. The performance of current water supply systems, urban drainage and wastewater treatment systems is suitable to solve conventional problems only. This workshop intends to review and discuss with leading international scientists, the status of knowledge regarding the risks, impacts and available or future technical solutions for the water sector. Working language is English with simultaneous translation to German. Weitere Informationen:
