Die Dickhalsschildkröte (Siebenrockiella crassicollis), von der International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) als „gefährdet” kategorisiert, wird durch den Klimawandel maßgeblich in ihrem heutigen Verbreitungsgebiet beeinträchtigt. In mehr als ¾ des als geeignet eingestuften Habitats werden Klimabedingungen auftreten denen sie heute nicht ausgesetzt ist.
