Greifswalder Physikalisches Kolloquium

Professor Dr. Markus H. Thoma vom Physikalischen Institut der Justus-Liebig-Universtität Gießen wird am Donnerstag, 8. Mai 2014, um 17:00 Uhr einen Vortrag mit dem Titel "Strongly-Coupled Systems in Particle and Plasma Physics" halten. Die Veranstaltung findet im Hörsaal des Instituts für Physik statt. Interessenten sind herzlich willkommen.

Abstract: In strongly-coupled plasmas the interaction energy between the particles is larger than the thermal energy of the particles. Examples are the quark-gluon plasma produced in relativistic heavy-ion collisions, the interior of white dwarfs and complex (or dusty) plasmas, i.e. low-temperature plasmas containing micron size particles. After discussing complex plasmas, in particular experiments under microgravity conditions, an introduction to the physics of the quark-gluon plasma will be presented. Finally it will be discussed what we can learn from complex plasmas about the quark-gluon plasma.

Help

Search / advanced search of the idw archives
Combination of search terms

You can combine search terms with and, or and/or not, e.g. Philo not logy.

Brackets

You can use brackets to separate combinations from each other, e.g. (Philo not logy) or (Psycho and logy).

Phrases

Coherent groups of words will be located as complete phrases if you put them into quotation marks, e.g. “Federal Republic of Germany”.

Selection criteria

You can also use the advanced search without entering search terms. It will then follow the criteria you have selected (e.g. country or subject area).

If you have not selected any criteria in a given category, the entire category will be searched (e.g. all subject areas or all countries).
