Three Finalists of the Innovation Award Laser Technology 2014

Dipl.-Phys. Axel Bauer Marketing & Kommunikation
Fraunhofer-Institut für Lasertechnik ILT

From online control of penetration depth in laser welding via femto-second laser printer up to laser fired contacts in silicon solar cells

The international jury of the Innovation Award Laser Technology 2014 has selected on the basis of merit three finalists. The team representatives - listed in alphabetical order - are:
Dr. Yves Bellouard (Eindhoven University of Technology, Eindhoven, NL)
Dr. Markus Kogel-Hollacher (Precitec Optronik GmbH, Neu-Isenburg, D)
Dr. Ralf Preu (Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE, Freiburg, D)

The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd team places of the Innovation Award Laser Technology 2014 will be disclosed and announced during the awarding ceremony on 7th May 2014 in Aachen´s town hall in the frame of the International Laser Technology Congress AKL´14. The prizewinner as representative of the 1st placed team will receive the sum of 10.000 euros and be awarded the titles of „AKL Fellow“ and „ELI Fellow“ by the associations Arbeitskreis Lasertechnik e.V. and the European Laser Institute ELI.

The Innovation Award Laser Technology is a European research prize awarded at 2-yearly intervals by the associations Arbeitskreis Lasertechnik e.V. and the European Laser Institute ELI. The award can be conferred on an individual researcher or on an entire project group, whose exceptional skills and dedicated work have led to an outstanding innovation in the field of laser technology. The scientific and technolo-gical projects in question must center on the use of laser light in materials processing or the methods of producing such light, and must furthermore be of demonstrable commercial value to industry.

The international jury selected on the basis of merit and the published criteria
3 outstanding finalists among the 23 applications for the Innovation Award Laser Technology 2014 (see detailed descriptions of the three innovations including photos on www.innovation-award-laser.org ).The prizewinner, the second and the third placed will be announced to the professional community and the public at large in an official award ceremony organized on 7th May 2014 in Aachen´s town hall in the frame of the International Laser Technology Congress AKL´14, organized by the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology ILT (see www.lasercongress.org ).

    Hilfe
